COVID Disaster Payment

Workers who live or work in a Commonwealth declared COVID-19 hotspot and lose income as a result of being unable to attend work due to state-imposed restrictions in excess of one (1) week may be eligible to receive temporary financial assistance. Workers who have lost less than twenty (20) hours of work can receive a payment of $325 or where workers have lost 20 hours or more of work they can receive a payment of $500. The payment will be paid directly to workers by the Government.

 

To be eligible for the payment, the worker must:

 

  • Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident or holder of an eligible Working Visa.
  • Not already be receiving Services Australia payments.
  • Have no more than $10,000 in liquid assets.

Workers and employers can get further information from the Services Australia website ( www.servicesaustralia.gov.au ).
